1.JOURNAL #2:  “Before Reading Question on page 111.


2.Read Graphic Novel excerpt Persepolis.

3.Complete “After Reading” question #3 Venn Diagram on page 119.
4. TARGET PRACTICE: Complete “Writing Prompt” at bottom of page 119. Use HW from last week to complete: either Activity 2.5 on page 105 OR Activity 2.2 on page 93.

1.Page 98.  “Before Reading” question will serve as JOURNAL:  What is it about a good storyteller that makes their storytelling so good?
2.Read “Kaffir Boy.”
3.TARGET PRACTICE: Writing Assignment: Page 102, Narrative Writing Prompt at bottom of page.  Review direct and indirect dialogue.
4.Closing: I can incorporate narrative techniques into my writing in order to portray a cultural perspective.

1.  Journal #3:  Using indirect and direct (w/tags) dialogue, write a real or imagined conversation that takes place in a high school cafeteria - try to include a cultural issue as the topic - 1/2 page
2.   Activities:
  • Types of Sentences and Syntax
  • 2.5 "Pick One" pp. 103-104
  • 2.6 "If You are What You Eat, Then What Am I?" pp. 106-110
3.  Target Practice:  skip 2 lines below your Do Now.   Use 3-5 different types of sentences to explain how sentence variety impacts pacing.
